Hi Glen, this is Chako. I am a student in English Bell for almost 2 months taking Callan class. I was wondering if it is okay to take another class once in a while, for example General English or CNN class, by turns.
I appreciate if you could give me some advises.

I’m glad you opened up about that concern. I’m pretty sure most of the students would be interested to know about this. Students are given the privilege to take up any class they prefer at any given time. Taking a variety of classes in a week is also helpful because one can learn English in various setting.

However, if you are taking up Callan and take up another class once in a while, it sometimes causes a cut in the continuity of the student’s progress. This is because Callan is structured in a way that it has to be learned in a step by step process and once interrupted; this might cause a halt in the student’s progress. The student might forget the patterns and the acquired speed in answering the questions.

Thanks for letting me know about your concern in Callan method. We have to use contractions because of the following reasons;

1.
If the student get used to using the complete from or the non-contraction form, it'll be difficult for him/her to use the contraction form on the later part of the lesson.

2.
The native speakers are using the contraction when speaking, if the student is not familiar of contractions, he/she won't comprehend to what the native speaker is saying.

3.
Lastly, contraction is a must in spoken English, like the Callan method itself. The long or complete form is only use in written area.

Hello Teacher Michelle,

I am taking Callan class for 1 month now and I really enjoy learning English in English Bell.

But I have a question about Callan.
When we answer to the questions, we have to use contraction in the sentences at all times and I always forget to use it and stuck in there.

I was wondering why we have to use contraction in the method and would like to know if there are any reasons.
